TESTIMONIAL

“Nancy is a wonderful personality with a real passion and comprehensive knowledge about Ayurveda, general well-being and helping other people to reach their real well-being in their everyday lives. I got to know Nancy during the month I spent with my wife at Koh Phangan joining her lecture about Ayurveda as well as through Shirodhara-treatments, yoga classes and genuine discussions that were part of her approach to help people to reach their full potential.
Her warmth and caring personality combined with her knowledge of things that affect people’s overall well-being made it very easy to enjoy time spent with her as well as to get some concrete benefits and good inspiration to take into one’s own life.”

Ayelet Shilgy

Ayelet Shilgy is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher from the RIMYI Institute in Pune since 2015.
Originally from Israel, she has been a practitioner of Iyengar Yoga for over 15 years and teaching for almost 10 years.
Her passion for yoga brought her to India, first as a student and for the past years as a resident, from which she is the founder of Mountain View Yog Studio in Dharamshala. She holds a deep connection with the location as her first ever yoga class took place in Dharamshala, in 2003.
All these years and still today, Ayelet studies with senior teachers all over the world including Iyengar family. As a dedicated student of Yoga, she teaches from her own experience. Her journey with yoga started from a physical need as it helped her to ease the back and shoulder pain she suffered from as a result of sitting in front of the computer screen for long hours.
Nowadays yoga practice is much more than a physical practice for her as she was able to change her complete perspective of life through it.

As a teacher, what has been inspiring for her the most, is the positive change she can help bring into the lives of her students. In classes she teaches heartfully giving attention to each of her students, correcting and motivating them to better their practice in a precise yet joyful and loving way.

“When you practice Iyengar, you bring consciousness to different parts of your body. Besides, Ayelet is so dedicated to her students, to the practice. You come and you really learn.”  –

ABOUT IYENGAR YOGA

Considered by many to be “the father of modern yoga”, B.K.S. Iyengar developed his innovative and inspired approach to yoga through intense practice and self-study. His famous book, Light on Yoga, has been continuously in print since originally published in 1966.

Structured towards gradual and steady progress rather than quick and fleeting results, each class is a unique sequence developed by our Iyengar certified teacher, to guide students through a safe and systematic progression.
Your experienced and highly-qualified teacher will help each student find their own level for each pose, and props may be used to make poses accessible and ensure correct execution.
“It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and
intelligence.” B.K.S. Iyengar

ABOUT AYURVEDA

Ayurveda, originating in India over 5,000 years ago, is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It is based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Ayurveda emphasizes good health and prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle practices (such as massage, meditation, yoga, and dietary changes) and the use of herbal remedies. Key to Ayurvedic medicine is the idea that each person is made of a combination of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth. These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas: Vata (space and air); Pitta (fire and water); and Kapha (water and earth). Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas, but one is usually stronger than the others. Each one controls a different body function, and your chances of getting sick—and the health issues you develop—are linked to the balance of your doshas. Ayurveda seeks to treat the root of disease and to help maintain balance in the body, mind, and spirit.

Questions & Answers

1. What is Iyengar Yoga, and how does it differ from other yoga styles?
Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga founded by B.K.S. Iyengar, emphasizing precision, alignment, and detailed asana practice. It utilizes props like belts, blocks, and wall ropes to help students perform poses they would otherwise find difficult to do. This approach makes Iyengar Yoga accessible to people of all ages and physical conditions. It differs from other yoga styles mainly in its use of props and its focus on alignment and holding poses for extended periods, as opposed to flowing quickly from one pose to the next. Additionally, Iyengar Yoga has a strong emphasis on pranayama (breath control) and uses a systematic approach to cover a wide variety of postures for holistic development.

The Yoga classes are suitable for practitioners from all levels with a minimum experience of 3 months. No prior knowledge is required for the enriching Ayurveda lectures.
