„Life (Ayu) is the combination (samyoga) of body, senses, mind and reincarnating soul. Ayurveda is the most sacred science of life, beneficial to humans both in this world and the world beyond. „ (Charaka Samhita, I 42-43)

The “science of life” or longevity, this holistic medicine system comes from India and has been around for more than 5000 years. It is believed to be the oldest healing science in existence, forming the foundation of others that came after. In this personalized health practice, the patient is empowered to become a student of their Dosha or mind-body type (there are three: Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and arrive at their own self-healing through guidance and knowledge of the optimal diet, exercise/yoga practice, supplements, herbal medicine, treatments, mantras and other lifestyle choices for that type. Our health is personal and the plan to achieve optimal balance health is equally personalized in practice. Above all else, Ayurveda believes that nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind itself.

Ayu means ‘life’ and veda means ‘sciene or knowledge’ – Ayurveda is ‘The science of Life or Knowledge of longevity’

In this practice, we look at everything as a whole ecosystem of health. The emphasis on preventing disease is rooted in finding and maintaining that balance in the mind, body and spirit to make healthy living a joyful, creative and proactively powerful experience. Everyone can benefit from this timeless medicine, whether you’re actively dealing with health issues or simply looking to fine tune your relationship to wellness, conscious living and stress management.

Dhanvantari is the Hindu god of medicine and an avatar of Lord Vishnu. He is mentioned in the Puranas as the god of Ayurveda. He, during the Samudra Manthan, arose from the Ocean of Milk with the nectar of immortality.

It is written in the scriptures that, “One who remembers the name of Dhanvantari can be released from all disease.” Lord Dhanvantari is worshipped all over India as the God of Medicine.

People pray to Dhanvantari for health, happiness and prosperity. There area few mantras that can win the blessings of Lord Dhanvantari in abundance. Wake up early in the morning, take bath and set up the puja altar and chant with full devotion and sincerity concentrating on the meaning.

Dhanvantrari Mantra:
Om Namo Bhagavate Maha Sudharshana Vasudevaya Dhanvantaraye
Amrutha Kalasa Hasthaaya Sarva Bhaya Vinasaya Sarva Roka Nivaranaya
Thri Lokya Pathaye Thri Lokya Nithaye Sri Maha Vishnu Swarupa Sri Dhanvantri Swarupa
Sri Sri Sri Aoushata Chakra Narayana Swaha

Meaning: I bow down and pray to the Lord Dhanvantari who is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and called Sudarshana Vasudev Dhanvantari. You hold in your hands, the Kalasha filled with the nectar of immortality. Oh Lord, you can remove all fears and diseases. You protect all the three worlds and you are the well-wisher of all created beings. You are the Lord of Ayurveda and the manifestation of Lord Vishnu. You are the ultimate healer of all the living beings. We worship you and pray you.

The Essentials of Ayurveda workshop is an invitation to dive into the ancient holistic knowledge and open all your senses to explore the Ayurvedic principles

What we are going to cover in these 2 days?

What is Ayurveda?

Introduction to the Ayurvedic principles & wisdom.

Pancha Mahabhutas

Learn about the 5 elements in nature and body.

The Doshas

Explore how the energetic force of nature interplays with the Doshas. Find out your individual mind-body type and learn how to rebalance your elements. You will get a better understanding of how every activity and function of our mind-body is depending on the balance or imbalance state of our doshas.

Dinacharya & Ritucharya

Discover a perfect Ayurvedic start into the day and create your Ayurvedic routine to your body constitution. Understand why seasonal changes impact the doshas and why is it important to sync your life with your natural circadian rhythm.

Ama & Agni

Ama (toxin) is a Sanskrit word which literally means undigested or uncooked. Agni is the digestive fire, the fire of intelligence, and that which governs all transformative processes. Ayurveda teaches us too much Ama and impaired Agni are at the root of every imbalance and disease. Understand the importance of Ama & Agni and learn how balance them.

Diet & Nutrition

Get to know the foods that nourish your constitutional type. Learn about the heating and cooling properties of foods and how the six unique tastes influence your diet.

Herbs & Spices

Ayurveda considers food to be one of the most important pillars of health. You have heard the phrase, “You are what you eat.” Ayurveda takes this one step further—you are what you eat and how you digest what you eat. Digestion is the cornerstone of health and immunity in Ayurveda. This is where the magic of spices comes in. Spices have immense benefits – learn about common Ayurvedic herbs & spices. We will have a walk around a beautiful Pranayama Garden to see which herbs we have locally available.

Cooking and eating an Ayurvedic meal together

Get to know the power of Mono-mealing. We will cook together the traditional Ayurvedic cleansing food-Kitchardi. The reason Kitchardi cleansing is so detoxifying that is it is a mono-meal, very nourishing and healing.

Kitchardi is the most ancient form of detox, practised by ancient Yogis since the time of the Vedas when yoga was first created. It has kept millions of people healthy, vibrant and strong, free of toxins and pollutants for centuries.

TAKE HOME

Receive great and simple tips to take home with you to get your Ayurvedic lifestyle started. Understand what it means to make little changes in your schedule and your life & health will improve. But don’t be afraid, we are taking baby steps and Ayurveda is not a set of rules or laws to follow. The most important thing is learning  tune in to your body, listen with awareness and receive what your body needs to certain times of the day to stay happy, healthy & balanced.

BECOME AWARE

Through the understanding of your mind-body constitution,  you become empowered and aware to notice symptoms before they arise to treat yourself holistically.
